Physical Therapy Treatment
Physical therapy treats a broad range of disability due to both injury and disease. Pediatric therapy can be used as treatment for many conditions, including:
- Brain trauma and injury
- Autism
- Cerebral palsy - a disorder affecting a child's muscle tone, movement or posture
- Developmental delays
- General orthopedic - injuries to bones, joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles
- Genetic syndromes - Down syndrome and muscular dystrophy
- Gross motor skills - deficits including muscle strength, coordination and balance
- Hypertonia or hypotonia - abnormally high or weak muscle tone, respectively
- Spina bifida - a birth defect affecting the spinal cord
