Lower Keys Medical Center Board of Trustees Appoints Two New Members

Key West, FL – March 23, 2017 – Two community members have been named to the Board of Trustees for Lower Keys Medical Center. Roger McVeigh and Michael Knowles, both of Key West, bring diverse backgrounds and a wealth of experience to the board. Each has been appointed to a three year term.
The Board of Trustees meets every other month and is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s progress toward strategic and quality goals; supporting medical staff development and fostering positive community relationships.
McVeigh, a retired Certified Public Accountant, spent most of his professional career working within the banking, health care and technology sectors. Since moving to Key West, McVeigh has been involved in many community organizations, including Florida Keys Community College Foundation, Key West Garden Club, Sculpture Key West, Key West Community Sailing Center, Southernmost Homeless Assistance League, Friends of Higgs Beach, Inc., US Triathlon Association - Florida Region Council, Monroe County School District, City of Key West Ambassador Academy, Leadership Monroe County and Community Foundation of the Florida Keys Leadership Success Academy.
Knowles, who has lived in Key West for 30 years, is General Manager of the Doubletree by Hilton Grand Key Resort. He has served in many capacities with the Key West Chamber of Commerce, including President of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Chamber Education Committee. Knowles currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Key West Bight, and is a board member of the Florida Keys Lodging Association and CROPRA Offshore Racing.
